The right pen & the correct pen grip
Better triangular or hexagonal pencils?
Triangular pencils are especially suitable for children who are practicing or already using the tripod grip for drawing & writing. For children who write with the quadrupod grip, hexagonal pencils are more comfortable. Break-resistant. Intense color. Comfortable. Have fun with our thick colored pencils in triangular or hexagonal shapes.
What is the correct pen grip?
There is no universally correct pen grip. To properly support a child, you need to look at them individually. In general, it makes sense to practice the tripod grip to offer the child this option. However, there are also some children & adults who prefer to draw & write with the quadrupod grip.
Exercise for the tripod pen grip
Once the child has chosen their favorite color from the thick colored pencils, give them a pompom. While the thumb, index finger & middle finger hold the colored pencil, the pompom is held in the hand with the ring finger & little finger. Small tasks can serve as a motivating challenge for more fun: 'Can you manage to keep the pompom in your hand & draw your favorite animal at the same time?'
