Head and Foot
One game, many possibilities
Players engage playfully with native animals. Three game variants are used.
Variant 1 Memory game:
It contains 12 matching pairs. Each pair consists of a depicted track and the corresponding animal card.
Variant 2 Charades:
One person draws the frog: “Ribbit!”. Another person guesses the sound.
Variant 3 Who belongs together
Players look at their card face down and then imitate the depicted animal. Now it’s time to find a partner. Frog to frog, horse to horse — until all pairs have found each other.
Practical tip:
The two variants “Charades” and “Who belongs together” are also suitable as a circle game or, in a more active form, as a movement activity. Whether played with sounds or pantomime can be varied.
Educational objectives:
- Getting to know native animals and their tracks through playful matching.
- Promoting memory skills by memorizing the cards in the “Memory” variant.
- Bridging language barriers by speaking in animal sounds.
- Promoting nonverbal communication by playing silently.
- Promoting gross motor skills and joy of movement by pantomimically imitating animal movements.
- The “Who belongs together” variant offers a sense of achievement for every child, as everyone finds their partner.
- Supporting self-confidence through imitating the animals and the sense of achievement.
