Head and Foot
One game, many possibilities
The players playfully engage with native animals. Three game variants are used.
Variant 1 Memory game:
It contains 12 matching pairs. Each pair consists of a depicted track and the corresponding animal card.
Variant 2 Pantomime:
One person draws the frog: “Ribbit!”. Another person guesses the sound.
Variant 3 Who belongs together
The players look at their card face down and then imitate the depicted animal. Now it’s time: find a partner. The frog to the frog, the horse to the horse – until all pairs have been found.
Practical tip:
The two variants “Pantomime” and “Who belongs together” are also suitable as a circle game or, in a slightly more active version, as a movement activity. Whether played with sounds or pantomime can be varied.
Educational objectives:
- Getting to know native animals and their tracks. Through playful matching.
- Promoting memory skills. By memorizing the cards in the “Memory” variant.
- Bridging language barriers. By speaking in animal sounds.
- Promoting nonverbal communication. By playing silently.
- Promoting gross motor skills and joy of movement. By pantomimically imitating animal movements.
- The “Who belongs together” variant offers a sense of achievement for every child. Because everyone finds their partner.
- Supporting self-confidence. Through imitating the animals and the sense of achievement.
